The Spring MISHMOSH is a fun, casual, variety performance featuring multiple works from company director, Shana Simmons, company member Brittany Nettles, and participants of the Creative Performance Workshop(CPW).
The CPW works are born from a creative process the group has been developing together for the past 9 weeks, utilizing a new concept to integrate into artistic mediums they already do. One performer plays the musical saw, one is expressing her experiences with becoming a mom and the aftermath, one performs in a wheelchair...and there's more.
Simmons' new work was born through a movement dynamic study focusing on the idea of COLLAPSE. Simmons took a few initial phrases created from collapsing the body over and over and started to see themes about female power dynamic struggles, exhaustion, competition, releasing, and letting go.
Nettle's new work is..... a fun surprise. It's a lot of movement, cascading and careening across the stage. It's funny. It might even bring you back to the days of disco. But that's all we're going to say....
